Hurst-Locker!

THIS HOUSE IS THE BOMB!  3437 Glenhurst, a gorgeous craftsman in Atwater was a major standout in this week’s lineup and believe me, I saw everything today.  The variety was seriously impressive, with homes ranging from a $5 million property in Beachwood Canyon to a $399K home with 5 one-car garages near Downtown LA.

Atwater Village is one of those pockets of LA real estate that seems to have weathered the storm well.  Maybe it is due to the fact that cool retail and restaurant options have emerged at its borders.  Maybe it’s because unlike so many other parts of the city Atwater really feels like a neighborhood. You know what I mean… a real neighborhood replete with wide, tree-lined streets, neighbors waving at each other seeming genuinely happy to see each other and dogs.  Yes dogs.  They are being walked everywhere you look.

Why this property?  It’s a gem for many reasons.  First of all it has appeal from every angle (curb or otherwise).  It has been meticulously renovated with such obvious care and concern for its history.  It maintains all of the original details that make it charming, but has been upgraded to feel fresh and new. Unlike most homes of the era, this one is filled with light.

From the restored vintage stove to the picture hanging moldings one can’t help being brought back to a bygone era when quality materials were of supreme importance and exceptional craftsmanship was the norm, not the exception.

The grounds are whimsically landscaped. There is a gorgeous detached garage boasting wonderful barn doors and a separate back workroom that could easily be converted to “something else.” Trees line the street; character oozes from every pore and the staging is impeccable.  I defy anyone to not love this house!  I dig it!   www.mintzRE.com
